Does anyone know if it is possible on a clustered hosting plan to buy a dedicated IP, but use it for multiple domains. (It seems unnecessary to put each of your domains on a separate IP if you have a single SSL certificate valid for all of your domains and you don't need virtual ftp.)
One dedicated IP for multiple domains?

Hello,
Unfortunately, as a reseller, you cannot use a single dedicated IP for all of your sites as your accounts are spread across multiple servers typically.
We do utilize shared IPs on all servers for sites that do not require an SSL certificate, and you can allocate a dedicated IP to any domain which does require an SSL.
Additionally, we do support shared SSL via our private label domain name, however, with the price of SSL certificates being so inexpensive these days from providers like godaddy or enom, you are better off just getting SSL certificates for whoever needs it. It is certainly more secured then shared SSL certs, and most merchant providers are starting to move towards a requirement for a dedicated SSL certificate these days anyway (especially true if you are going for PCI compliance)
Hope this helps and please let us know if you have any additional questions

Happy new year to you too!
I could have been a bit more clear. I'm not a reseller; I just happen to have bunch of different domains. They are also all on the same server, and it seemed from your last post that if this were the case, then they could share their own ip. Is that right? If so, can this be done from the control panel?
Thanks :-)

Hello,
unfortunately not. You are correct that domains on shared hosting are assigned to the same web server, DB server, eMail server etc that your account is created on.
Unfortunately, we are not able to allocate a single IP to be used by multiple domains other then the servers shared IP. I would hazard a guess you are trying to have your own shared IP - and although this is an interesting feature to consider, unfortunately, it is not currently an available option. You can utilize the servers shared IP for your domains, or you can assign a dedicated IP to a particular domain
Thanks and please do let us know if you have any additional questions.

Sorry for chiming in so late, but....
The only way I can think of that this might work is by using Domain Aliases for all of the other sites - assuming that you can run all of these sites from a single multi-site application (where the application is aware of the URL it's called by and displays content accordingly), such as Drupal Multisite or WordPress MU - since they would all share a common web-root (as aliases do by default) but yet, for the purposes of the visitor, they would be separate entities.
It may not be the cleanest solution - but it would probably work in a pinch.

Hello Russel123,
This is due to name based Apache vhost configuration. For SSL needs, you need a dedicated IP address.
Please see the below for more information:

I'd like this feature too (one dedicated IP for all domains in your shared account - would cost extra, of course). Sometimes I get worried about a potential client doing a reverse IP check on my domain(s) and finding porn sites etc. and thinking I have something to do with them.
I'd move to a VPS to avoid this but it will be a very long time before I can justify the increased cost.

Hello inspire,
Cartika does not support "porn" at all. We typically do not allow such material.
We do have some "adult" based sites - and that is quite a fine line. We frown against "adult" material, but, are really hard pressed to stop it entirely. I mean, where do we draw the line?
But, pure "porn" sites - they are not permitted
