Iam just planning to start a NEWS PORTAL for my city and will need to choose the right CMS..

Wordpress

Joomla

Drupla

Which one suits my needs ? Which has Good themes for NEWS PORTAL ? Need support for VIDEOS, GALLERIES !

Hello,

Honestly, the decision is yours and which ever solution you are comfortable with. For this requirement though, I would not advise you go with Wordpress. Wordpress can act as a CMS, but, it is primarily a blogging platform. So, if you are trying to launch a blogging platform, with additional CMS capabilities, then Wordpress is your obvious choice (just as Drupal and Joomla can handle blogging, but, they are primarily a CMS platform).

For a News portal, based on your list, my opinion would be Joomla or Drupal. I am personally biased towards Joomla (all of our sites are built using Joomla including cartika.com, cartikacloud.com, cartikavps.com, etc). Having said this, Drupal is an outstanding platform and people swear by it. So, I would suggest you play with both and use whichever one you personally like best.

We have decided on Wordpress as the client wants to keep it simple and straight forward !
