So it does not seem lighttpd is supported by hsphere yet (hopefully I'm wrong) and from, my testing it seems to be very fast and uses much less ram, well by design of course. I was thinking it would be good to switch to it on my VPS since I often see apache using around 1gb of memory with moderate traffic. Is this possible or would I have to remove all Hsphere packages to do so?

Since we don't resell on our VPS we dont REALLY need a control panel, though it is always nice. Would we see some resources free up simply by removing hsphere?

Hello there,

Unfortunately, lighthttpd would not work with HSphere.

One of the benefits of HSphere is that we actually host the control panel server -- so, HSphere is not using ANY resources on your VPS. It only logs into your VPS when requests are made via the control panel. So, unfortunately (or fortunately) you already removed one layer of resource usage -- should you be using cPanel, for instance, your 1GB of memory on high traffic would be much, much higher (I would say almost ~50% higher, around a gig and a half used).

Please advise if you have any additional questions or concerns. :)
